This guide helps you document stinging-insect activity from a safe distance so the information can be reviewed by a professional. It does not identify a species, and it is not a treatment or nest-removal guide.

Choose a location where you can observe activity without standing in the insects' flight path. Do not climb, open walls, move objects, touch a nest, or intentionally provoke activity.

4. Describe what you can see safely

- Slender or robust body
- Fuzzy or smooth appearance
- Visible nest material
- Open comb or enclosed nest
- Entry hidden from view

- Near primary entrance
